Meredith Carro is an installation and sculpture-based artist. In her practice, she arranges and accentuates common everyday objects in abstract ways to recontextualize and transform them into something new and unknown. Carro exploits an object’s form and materiality, emphasizing its shape and details, while de-emphasizing its original intended function and context. Her works portray anxiety through visual and physical tension in the materials used, and express humor through the significant treatment of trivial objects. She strives to eliminate the viewer’s original understanding of and relationship with the objects while providing a new perspective.
