Untitled (Toilet Paper)
toilet paper, spray paint
2016

In this piece, dozens of rolls of toilet paper balance on top of each other forming an organic tower-like arrangement. The strong, direct lighting on the work emphasizes the curves, folds, and shape of the individual rolls as well as their formation altogether. The harsh black paint patterns against the originally white toilet paper serve a strong contrast and visual interest. The piece references architecture in art in a scale model size and disrupts the viewer's former understanding of the material.
